You are here: THE UGANDA STOP TB PARTNERSHIP

To maximize the use of available resources in the country, it is essential to look beyond the normal scope of the Ministry of Health.

The formation of a National Stop TB Partnership is one way of mobilizing yet untapped human and material resources. A National Partnership to Stop TB is a coalition of partners who jointly contribute to the fight against tuberculosis. All partners agree on the national strategy for TB control that is spearheaded by the Ministry of Health. Each partner brings specific expertise, experience and resources and contributes to the expansion of TB control. The added value of the National partnership is;
better coordination of stakeholders
increased momentum to upgrade TB control
harnessing new inputs from non-traditional partners.

This will constitute a true national response. A number of agencies (bilateral) and non governmental organizations in Uganda both local and international embraced the idea of forming a national partnership with the aim of mounting a unified effort against tuberculosis and complementing the efforts of NTLP to achieve the 2005 targets and sustaining control of the disease subsequently.

Through the mediation of the World Economic Forum (WEF) a number of agencies in business and industry have expressed interest in joining the partnership. The WEF is itself a member of the Global Stop TB Partnership.
